Help...

Cruiser Participants

As a participating cruise "rider", you have little to do after "boarding" (clicking on a station button at your web site of choice), other than sit back and enjoy the cruise. However, there are some features represented by a row of buttons at the top of the screen that may become handy.

As you are transported to various web pages, you may scroll the pages, or further explore the website until the system sends a new page to view. If you would like to remain on a given site, use the Pause and Resume buttons as described below. In pause you can explore indefinately; when Resume is pressed you will be brought to the current page being presented to the group.
  • HOME - Clicking on this button will return you to the web site from which you joined the cruise.

  • HELP - Clicking on this button brings you to this page.

  • FAQ - Clicking on this button will take you to a page of our most Frequently Asked Questions, and their answers.

  • CONTACT - Contact Us

  • PAUSE Clicking this button will "PAUSE" a live-directed WebCruise (The WebCruise will continue without you, but you can catch up again by pressing RESUME. You use pause to browse around a site to which your browser was directed. (You can do this anyway, but your browser may automatically go to the next directed site unless the PAUSE button has been pressed.

  • RESUME - Resumes a live-directed WebCruise which was paused.

  • WC Bookmark - Due to the operating characteristics of the Web Cruiser, your browser may not (or may) be able to bookmark displayed pages. By clicking on WC Bookmark, the system will save the address and page name of the displayed page in its own bookmarks, which you can later retrieve and move to your own browser's bookmarks by clicking on the Display WC Bookmarks button.

  • Display WC Bookmarks - This will pop up a small window (You MUST have pop-ups enabled for our web site for this to work), that will display any and all WebCruise CastHopper© bookmarks you may have made. Right click on these and use the menu to move these links into your own browser's bookmarks.

That's ALL! Enjoy your cruise!

Cruise Panel Operators

At its most basic level, operating the WebCruise CastHopper© for your own group of participants is easy!

  1. When you first "install" WebCruise CastHopper© (add the lines of code with the WebCruise CastHopper© links) to your web page, immediately click on the Admin Control Panel button. This is the button that gives access to the WebCruise CastHopper's© control panel. The first time you do this is very important! Each time you access the Control Panel, it will require you to put a password into the password field: however, the FIRST time you are actually creating the password that you will continue to use to access the system. Remember the password you have used. Once you have entered the password the system is ready to use.

  2. Designating pages for your viewers - The most basic way to designate a page to be displayed to all of your participating WebCruise CastHoppers© is to enter the URL address of the field into the Display Page field. Do NOT include the http:// part, that is already assumed. Once you have entered this field, click on the SUBMIT button, and within a few seconds, the page will display on your own browser, as well as on the browsers of all your "cruisers".

  3. Alternate Page Designation - On the current page being displayed at any time, if you wish to go to a link on that page, DO NOT just click on the link. Your browser will display the new page, but the browsers of your "cruisers" will not. This way you can "preview" these pages. To send both your browser and your cruisers to the link, right click on the link, choose "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut" (Depending on your browser), then click in the Display Page box of the control panel and paste the address into that box. Then simply press "SUBMIT".

  4. Using Favorites - There is a "choice" box on the Control Panel where you can store web sites to which you go often. (See System Administration for instructions on adding/editing/removing favorites)
To direct your participants to these pages, simply click on the listing in the box, then click on SUBMIT. Your Panel came pre-loaded with sample "favorites".

  5. Using Tours - Tours consist of one or more pre-designated web sites to which your participants will be directed, in order, with pauses on each site as you determine. Their browsers will traverse each of the sites in the listed tour, and unless you then stipulate something else, start again at the top. Your Panel came pre-loaded with sample tours, but you can create your own tourlists. (See the System Administration section.)

  6. Alert Text - Got something to say to your participating audience? Enter it into the Alert Text box when you designate the next page, and when that page is displayed to each participant, an Alert Box will appear on their screen with the text that you typed.

  7. Cruise ID Code - The preceeding instructions apply to ALL WebCruises. Public cruises are handled by the Cruise ID Code of "Default". However, if you want to have private or alternate cruises, you may do so by entering a code of your own into the Cruise ID Code box. Once you have done this, only those participants that enter that code at the WebCruise CastHopper© WELCOME screen will be able to participate in this cruise. (You need to contact your participants in advance to give them the code to use.)
If you can keep track of what you are doing, you can actually have both a Public and one or more Private cruises happening simultaneously... GOOD LUCK :-)

WebCruise CastHopper© Stations

The WebCruise CastHopper© is designed with specific access from the page where your WebCruise CastHopper© banners were located, not from anywhere else in your web site. To allow people to access your WebCruise CastHopper© from other pages in your site (or anywhere else), you must use a standalone WebCruise CastHopper© "station" as seen at the right.

The link MUST reference your specific station ID. This will be shown at the top of your WebCruise CastHopper© control panel. Copy and paste the code below into your web pages where you would like to place "boarding stations".
Be sure to replace the "<--YOUR STATION ID-->" with your own station ID.
