Watch the kids in the evening. It is like clockwork.
They go to their web sites on MySpace.com,
write in their blogs and upload their latest photos. Then they are on the
telephone with friends while they explore the MySpace websites of their
friends, reading the blogs and looking at the latest pictures.
Then it is off of MySpace and around the web seeking new fan websites of
their favorite celebrities, or check for updates and new pictures on their
favorite ones. On the phone they try to fill each other in on what they've
found.
The Focus Group: With just the base application to work with, they
quickly formed groups. The group leaders where the owners of the web sites
where the application was planted. As the leader moved between web sites,
of group members and then out onto the internet, every browser displayed the
page chosed by the leader of the group. On the phone they agreed to
change leaders often, moving to and fro across the internet.
We gave them the ability to create a favorites list, so they could move the
group between their favorite sites with a "quick click".
It was a hit! The biggest complaint: We took it away from them as we
tweak and ready it for a full-featured launch.
When they get it back, though, they'll forgive us when they find out that
they can even link their web enabled PDA or cell phone browsers together,
and surf together even when they are not in front of their computers.
